STORY SPIRE AI INC. ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Story Spire AI mobile application (the "App") and the website storyspire.ai (the "Site"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. Story Spire AI is designed for families: parents or guardians create and manage the account, and children use the App together with, or under the supervision of, a parent or guardian.

1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

Account and subscription information. Subscriptions are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play and managed through RevenueCat, our subscription-management provider. We receive a subscription identifier (an anonymous app user ID) and subscription status. We do not receive or store your full payment card details.

Child profile information. To personalize stories, a parent or guardian may enter a child's first name, age, and story preferences (such as favorite story types). This information is provided by the parent or guardian, not collected from the child directly.

Story content. The story ideas, characters, keywords, and selections you enter to generate stories, and the resulting stories, illustrations, and audio, are stored in your library so you can access them across sessions.

Voice recordings (optional). If you choose to create a personal narration voice, we collect the voice recording you provide. This feature is intended for parents/guardians. Recordings are used solely to generate narration for your stories.

Technical information. Basic technical data needed to operate the service, such as authentication tokens, device platform (iOS/Android), app language, and error logs.

We do not collect precise location, contacts, photos, or advertising identifiers. The App contains no third-party advertising.

2. HOW WE USE INFORMATION

• To create and narrate personalized stories (the core service)
• To operate your account, library, and subscription
• To provide customer support and respond to feedback
• To maintain safety, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations
• To improve the reliability of the service (error diagnostics)

We do not sell personal information. We do not use personal information for third-party advertising or marketing profiling, and we do not knowingly allow children's data to be used for such purposes.

3. AI PROCESSING AND SERVICE PROVIDERS

To generate stories, limited content is processed by service providers acting on our behalf:

• Text generation: story prompts (which may include a child's first name, age, and story preferences) are processed by OpenAI to write the story text.
• Illustrations: scene descriptions derived from the story are processed by fal.ai to create images.
• Narration: story text (and, if you created one, your voice recording) is processed by ElevenLabs to produce audio narration.
• Subscriptions: RevenueCat processes subscription status linked to an anonymous identifier.
• Hosting and storage: our servers and content storage are hosted on DigitalOcean.

These providers process data only to provide their service to us and are not permitted to use it for their own advertising. We share the minimum needed to generate your stories.

4. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

The App is intended for use by families. We take children's privacy seriously and design the App to collect only what is needed to deliver the service, consistent with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and other applicable laws:

• Child information (first name, age, preferences) is entered and controlled by the parent or guardian.
• We do not knowingly collect contact details from children, and children cannot make their profile or stories public to other users outside the household account except through the optional story-sharing feature controlled from the account.
• We do not serve advertising to children and do not sell or share children's personal information for advertising.
• A parent or guardian may review or delete a child's profile and stories at any time in the App (My Library and profile settings), or request deletion by contacting us (Section 8).

If you believe a child has provided us personal information without parental consent, contact us at [email protected] and we will delete it.

5. DATA RETENTION

We keep your account data, child profiles, and story library while your account is active so your content remains available. Voice recordings are retained until you delete the voice profile or your account. You can delete individual stories, child profiles, and voice profiles in the App at any time; deletion removes them from your library and our active systems. Backup copies are removed on our normal backup cycle. If your account is inactive for an extended period, we may delete it after notice where feasible.

6. SECURITY

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), access-controlled infrastructure, and token-based authentication. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information appropriately for a family product.

7. YOUR RIGHTS

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal information, and to withdraw consent. Parents/guardians may exercise these rights for their children. Most actions (deleting stories, profiles, voices) can be done directly in the App; for anything else, contact us and we will respond within a reasonable time.

9. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version at this address with a new "Last updated" date. If changes are material — especially regarding children's data — we will provide notice in the App or by other reasonable means.
